Marie Hardaway Porter passed away peacefully Sunday, April 28.

She was born Jan. 22, 1929 to B. and George McNeil Hardaway.

She confessed Christ at an early age and was a member of The Little Hill Baptist Church in Ottine, Texas.

She attended school at Canoe Creek. She was known to many as “Sit.”

Marie loved her family and friends. She would often care and check on them to see how they were doing. Even as her health started to decline, she continued to make phone calls checking on everyone.

For more than 25 years Marie worked for the Billy and Elnora Webb family, babysitting, cooking, and cleaning.

Even after she retired from working the Webb family continued too show her love. They never forgot her birthday or at Christmas time. She wanted the Webb family to know that she loved them.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Ernest Porter Sr., her son Ernest Porter Jr.; three sisters Carrie Hodges, Clara Hardaway, and Jessie Mae Scott; her brother E.J. Hardaway; two nieces Eunice Bell and Joyce Merriweather.

Marie leaves to forever cherish her memory her daughter, Pauline Calvin; two grandsons, Ernest Terrell and Joshua Lawrence Calvin; two brothers, B (Oma) Hardaway and Shelby Hardaway; two sisters, Irene (RL) Spears, and Georgia Mae (Eddie) Hamilton.

Funeral sercie is May 4 at 1 p.m. at Little Hill Baptist Church in Ottine, Texas
