Mayoral Q&A moves to online format

In January, Gonzales Mayor Connie Kacir announced the start of what she hoped would have been a “regularly-scheduled” event called “Q&A with the mayor.” The forum was created to increase transparency with the city government and its constituency.

“My sole and sincere heartfelt reason for doing this is aimed at correcting misinformation that is disseminated at times, and we all know that’s an issue that the world deals with,” Kacir told the Inquirer in January.

Kacir held the first forum in Feb. 11 at the public library, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the mayor and city staff were forced to come up with a different way to run the event.

Now, Kacir will return with another installment of “Q&A with the Mayor,” scheduled to air online on Thursday, June 4.

The city asks community members to submit questions regarding the Gonzales community to citysecretary@gonzales.texas.gov by Friday, May 29.

“As we continue to adhere to the protocols set in place by the State of Texas in response to COVID-19, this event will move online temporarily,” read a post via social media.
