Multiple emergency calls made to same place on river

Local emergency services have been called to the Highway 183 bridge over the Guadalupe River for water rescue two times since Saturday. Gonzales EMS confirmed they had been dispatched to the bridge on Sept. 29 and Oct. 1.

J.B. Wells Park officials said one other incident occurred in the same place but was resolved without emergency service intervention. No injuries have been reported in any of the incidents.

If floating the river, use caution especially when near the 183 bridge. The area has been a problem spot with deceptively deep waters and strong currents. A Houston man drowned at the area in July 2017.
