Gonzales County Commissioners Court

Editors note: Donald Petru's comments were directed to Kevin La Fleur not Justin La Fleur. The story has been altered to reflect this.

  • Though no one spoke during the initial public comment section, several offered comment when the court motioned to re-open the section following Pct. 3 Commissioner Kevin La Fleur’s statement on the alleged TCEQ violation.
  • In his comment, Gonzales resident Dale Schellenberg defended La Fleur from what he called a “vicious attack:” “What I do know is that Jesus drug his cross to his own crucifixion,” Schellenberg said. “Kevin La Fleur, a group is trying to crucify you and what I see is you carrying a cross for the entire Gonzales County with your name inscribed on it. Gonzales County’s inscribed on it also.”
  • Donald Petru brought a copy of the information on the alleged TCEQ violation he received via public record request and invited anyone interested to look through it or get their own copy at the county auditor's office. Petru also made comments toward Kevin La Fleur which promted Nixon Alderman Justin La Fleur to make his own accusations in response.  Justin La Fleur's comments were interupted by the court.
  • Minutes from the Nov. 25, 2019 meeting were approved.
  • Constable Pct. 4’s monthly report was received by the court.
