The Gonzales Noon Lions Club and Gonzales Breakfast Lions Club are jointly holding their annual Lions International 2024-25 Peace Poster Contest, which is open for junior high students ages 11-13 as of Nov. 15.
The theme for this year is “Peace Without Limits.” For peace to be anything more than a possibility, everyone must make it a priority. This year the clubs are asking students to create a poster that speaks to the world’s infinite potential for kindness once people commit to pursuing the idea of peace without limits.
Students are asked to share their unique images of peace with others, so that all may have a greater tolerance and international understanding. Students must be residents of Gonzales and come from public, private or homeschools. Check with your school office for contest rules. Only one entry per student is allowed.
Awards for the local contest are $75 for first place, $50 for second place and $25 for third place. Two first place winners will be sent to district contest.
Posters will have to be turned in by Wednesday, Oct. 30. A Lion will come and pick up the posters in the office. If you have any questions, please call or text Lion Margie Radicke at 830-857-5411. If you are homeschooled call Margie to find out where you can deliver the poster.
Judging will occur at each Lions club after posters are turned in Oct. 30. Winners from the district contest will go to state and then the international contest. Prize money is awarded at each level. The largest prize is $5,000 at the international level.
Advice from the judges: Take your time and do your best. Quality is the key. You can see some of the past winners online by searching Lions Peace Poster Contest. Create your response on the poster in picture form without using any words. Have fun with it. Get creative!
