Norma Jean Richter Sedlar

Norma Jean Richter Sedlar passed away Wednesday, March 29, 2023, in Austin, Texas. She was born April 3, 1955, in Gonzales, Texas to her parents Leroy and Addie Jean (Edwards) Richter. She grew up and attended school here in Gonzales and graduated from Gonzales High School in 1973. Norma Jean attended nursing school and graduated as an LVN. She worked at the Cartwheel Lodge Nursing Home in Gonzales and went onto home health care in Flatonia, Texas. She would end her nursing career with 30 years of service. 

Norma Jean married Daniel James Sedlar March 30, 1974, they shared a wonderful marriage together and had two sons, Daniel James Sedlar, Jr., and Matthew James Sedlar. They moved to Flatonia, where they would raise their sons and resided there the rest of their lives.

Norma Jean loved her grandkids, they are what kept her going and were the joy of her life, she loved going out to the country and spending time with them. She loved her hallmark movies,  and she loved anything flashy, especially her jewelry. Her dog “Tootie” meant the world to her, they spent so much time together. Roses were her favorite; she took pride in her rose garden with all the different colored roses she planted. Norma Jean and her husband Daniel went on many vacations together, they enjoyed the outdoors and often visited anywhere with mountains. Trips to the casinos and gambling were a family favorite, they enjoyed themselves and made memories with every trip. Her sons remember the good times with their mother, and they will miss her deeply.

She is survived by her sons Daniel James Sedlar, Jr. and his wife Kathryn,  Matthew James Sedler and his wife Beth. Her grandchildren Valerie, Benjamin, Amber, and Sophia. Her brother Richard Richter as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Her family and friends will continue to cherish the memories they have of her.

She is preceded in death by her beloved husband Daniel James Sedlar, Sr., her parents Leroy and Addie Jean Richter, and her siblings Mabel Richter Jalufka, Eddie Richter, and Darren Richter.

A visitation will be held at Seydler – Hill Funeral Home on Monday, April 3, 2023, from 9:00am to 10:00am, a rosary will start at 10:00am. A Funeral service will proceed at 10:30 conducted by Deacon Terry Brennan. Interment will follow at Wrightsboro Cemetery.
