One killed in US 183 accident

One person was killed and another injured in a two-vehicle accident which took place in the 13000 block of U.S. 183 North in Gonzales County Saturday, Nov. 16.

Texas Department of Public Safety Sgt. Ruben San Miguel said at 8:38 p.m. a white Nissan was traveling north on US 183 and, for unknown reasons, crossed the double yellow line and struck a gray Chevy Silverado head on, with the front left of the Nissan colliding with the front left of the truck.

The driver of the Nissan, identified as Marco Alvarado, 27, was pronounced dead at the scene at 10:12 p.m. by Precinct 1 Justice of the Peace Deidra Voigt. The driver of the truck, Chris Williams, 33, was transported by ambulance to Seton Hays Kyle with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

The accident remains under investigation, but next of kin of the deceased have been notified.
