No new cases of coronavirus were reported in Gonzales County on Wednesday, Sept. 2, 2020, and only a single new case was reported on Thursday, Sept. 3, per reports from County Judge Patrick C. Davis.

This puts the total number of cases in the county at 837, with there being but 9 active cases as of Thursday. There have been 819 cases of COVID-19 which have been determined by the Department of State Health Services to have recovered, as well as nine deaths reported in the county.

In Trauma Service Area P, which includes Gonzales County, hospitals are reporting 4,359 occupied beds, with 708 of these being ICU beds. There are just 984 available beds in the area, and of those only 184 are ICU beds.

To date, the DSHS estimates that Gonzales County has had approximately 3,500 total tests done for COVID-19. These tests are not representative of case totals, and when the county of residence was not available, the ordering county’s address was used. This means that some tests ordered in the county may not have been for someone who lived within its bounds.
