The Pilot Club of Gonzales named Mayor Steve Sucher and Gonzales ISD Superintendent Dr. Elmer Avellaneda as honorary members recently.
Sucher was honored at the Monday, Sept. 9 Pilot Club meeting at the Riverside Center; the club president gave Sucher a certificate of honorarium.
The Pilot Club also came to the Monday, Oct. 21 GISD meeting to give Dr. Avellaneda his certificate as an honorary member.
Pilot Club International is a 102-year-old community service organization focused on serving those with traumatic brain injuries and their caregivers and teaching kids how to keep their brain safe for life through various programs.
The Pilot Club of Gonzales was formed in 1973; 10 years later the Anchor Club of Gonzales was formed at the high school.
“To summarize our code of ethics: Embracing the Pilot motto, "True Course Ever," we commit to working diligently, ethically, and with a positive spirit. We will strive for continuous improvement and self development, maintain high standards, and work each day at that which is before us seriously, vigorously, calmly, and cheerily,” said Pilot Club president-elect Lorrell Wright.
