Placida M. Guevara

Placida Martinez Guevara, 86, of Austin, passed away Monday, Aug. 16, 2021. She was born Oct. 5, 1934 in Gonzales. She worked in housekeeping with Seton Hospital and retired after several years of service. he was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Gonzales.

She is survived by her daughter: Olivia Leal of Austin; sons: Cruz Leal, Ricardo Leal and Joe Leal, all of Austin; brothers: Joe Gomez and Rafael Aguirre, both of Gonzales. Also surviving are 13 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and numerous great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband: Casimiro Guevara; son: Raymond Leal; and brothers: Nesmio Gomez, Armando Aguirre and Julio Aguirre.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 22, 2021 with a Rosary being recited at 7 p.m. at Seydler-Hill Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be celebrated 2 p.m. Monday, Aug. 23, 2021 at St. James Catholic Church with Reverend Jason Martini officiating. Interment will follow at St. James Catholic Cemetery.

Due to the present uptick in reported Covid-19 illnesses, protective measures regarding social distancing, and use of personal protective masks will be required for the visitation, funeral service, and graveside burial rite. Those remotely symptomatic of COVID-19 are politely asked not to attend. Services are under the care and direction of Seydler-Hill Funeral Home.
