Pursuit ends in arrest of Louise man

A 20-year-old Louise man is in custody after leading law enforcement on a high speed chase that reached speeds in excess of 100 miles per hour on Sunday, Dec. 11.

According to the Gonzales County Sheriff’s Office, deputies received a call that a vehicle driven by Joshua Jesse Garcia was not stopping and was traveling as fast as 110 mph into oncoming traffic on US 183 in Gonzales County.

Law enforcement officers from multiple agencies engaged in a pursuit of Garcia up US 183 into Caldwell County and onto Interstate 10 going westbound. Garcia’s vehicle was finally stopped at mile marker 628 (Texas 80) and he was apprehended by Texas Department of Public Safety troopers.

Garcia was charged with evading arrest or detention with a vehicle, driving while intoxicated and possession of marijuana less than two ounces. He is currently in the Gonzales County Jail awaiting a bond hearing.
