Rebecca Brown Connell

Rebecca Brown Connell was born Mar. 7, 1948 to Frank and Joyce Brown. She passed away Sunday Feb. 14, 2021 of heart related complications.

Becky grew up and lived in Gonzales county most of her life. She started working at Citizens State Bank in Luling on Saturdays as a senior in high school and she retired from Sage Capital Bank in Gonzales fifty years later. Just out of high school she married Ronnie Connell. They had one child, Ron Connell, Jr.

Becky grew up in the country and loved the outdoors. She spent countless hours on the Guadalupe river over the years either fishing, skiing, or just boating. She also loved her trips to Las Vegas or Louisiana to play blackjack. She will be missed by the dealers she had become close with.

Her son Ron and his wife Kelli blessed her with two precious granddaughters, Bailey and Corie, who she was so very proud of.

After retiring, she and other retired lady friends started a Friday morning coffee group in Luling. She looked forward to that each week catching up on all the local news and being with dear friends.

Becky was a member for many years of the First United Methodist Church in Belmont.

She was preceded in death by her father Frank Brown, her mother Joyce Brown, and her younger brother Frank Brown, Jr. She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Ronnie Connell, one son Ron Connell Jr, his wife Kelli Connell, two granddaughters Bailey and Corie Connell, sisters, Kay Brzozowski, and Gail Schauer and husband Kenneth Schauer, sisters-in-law Stacey Cummings and husband Craig, Janis McCaskill, brother-in-law Robbie Connell and wife Dianne, lots of nieces and nephews, and one little great-grandson expected in August.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 20 in Belmont Cemetery with Pastor Paul Smith officiating. Pallbearers: Charles McCaskill, Joe McCaskill, Brian Schauer, Darren Schauer, Monte Hodges and Patrick Hodges. In lieu of usual remembrances, memorials may be made to the Belmont Cemetery Association or the Belmont First United Methodist Church. Due to current CDC, State and local mandates, protective measures regarding social distancing, limited attendance capacity, and use of personal protective masks will be required for the graveside burial rite. Those remotely symptomatic of COVID-19 are politely asked not to attend. Services are under the care and direction of Seydler-Hill Funeral Home.
