Friends of Palmetto State Park are hosting a one-week, fun-filled summer day camp for youngsters aged 8-12 from Monday, June 2 through Friday, June 6, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily.
Campers will enjoy all-time favorites such as archery, fishing, swimming, and kayaking. Kay Floyd, president of Friends of Palmetto State Park, says, “Exciting wildlife sessions are planned and will enthrall youngsters with topics such as Clues and Traces, Horns and Thorns, Snakes and Bees and Leave no Trace. Hiking, birding and bridge building round out the week, just to name a few of the many planned activities.”
With registration opening Wednesday, April 1, Floyd stresses that space is limited. The cost is $195 per child, and parents should register on-line at https://friendsofpalmetto.my.canva.site/
If it is more convenient, parents also can pick up an application at the Palmetto State Park office at 78 Park Road 11 South from 8:15 a.m. - 4:45 p.m. daily. Once the application and liability forms have been submitted and approved, parents will be notified of their child’s acceptance into camp and given instructions regarding payment which is due no later than May 15.
All camp participants must bring their own lunch and swimming shoes. Camp shirt, bag and reusable water bottle will be provided.
