Richard Edward “Rick” Klapuch, 64, formerly of Gonzales, passed away Saturday, April 5 2025. Rick was born December 20, 1960 in Sinton, Texas to Marvin and Dorothy Mokry Klapuch. Having grown up in the country he was in touch with the beauty of nature and delighted in the thrills of hunting, fishing and swimming in the pond. Rick graduated from Gonzales High School with the Class of 1979.
Rick moved with his family to Gonzales when he was 10 years old. He was a fun-loving, gregarious, brilliant man with a spontaneous and delightful sense of humor. At times he was gloriously impulsive as he would walk into the house after work and proclaim to his family “pack your swimming suits, we’re heading to the coast!” He was loving and always loyal to his family. He always offered sound advice to his children and always supported them in any way he could. Rick was warm and loving PawPaw, he adored his grandchildren and greatly valued every moment he had with them.
Rick was an amazing song writer, vocalist and guitarist. His music brought him great peace and at an early age he found himself playing and singing with bands like the Goldrush Band and The Bushriders. He released a 45 rmp that gained regional success with the song “New Records on the Jukebox”. With the release of this song, he was asked to perform at a Houston Oilers “Luv Ya Blue” pep rally! His wealth of talent and love for family will be treasured always.
Rick is survived by his loving family, mother, Dorothy Klapuch, daughter, Ashley Nicole Hill (Blaine), son, Derrick Edward Klapuch (Gaby Rodriguez), sisters, Anna Roscoe (Wade), Patricia Murphy, brothers, Tim Klapuch (Mickey), John Klapuch (Bernie), Daniel Klapuch (Angie), grandchildren, Marlea Klapuch, Makaia Klapuch, Elliot Hill, Anson Wheelis, and Derrick Klapuch II. He was preceded in death by his father and a brother, Gerald Klapuch.
