Rosemary Netardus, 96 of Gonzales, passed away Friday, September 20, 2024. Rosemary was born on January 7, 1928, in Oak Forest to Leo Bernard Wroblesky and Pauline Hobizal Wroblesky. She graduated from Gonzales High School with the Class of 1945 and soon after married Henry Butschek. After Henry’s passing, she married Leon Netardus. Rosemary was a member of St. James Catholic Church, a 50-year member of the St. James Altar Society and a member of the Gonzales Bridge Club. For nearly 20 years, every Monday morning she would count the offerings given to the church.
Rosemary started her working career at Ford Motor Company in downtown Gonzales, and later Western Auto before joining the GVEC Federal Credit Union where she worked until she retired.
Rosemary was a fastidious housekeeper. She always kept herself busy, whether by keeping house, doing laundry and ironing, or working in her flower beds. RoRo, as her grandchildren called her, baked delicious chocolate chip cookies and every Sunday she would prepare a big lunch for extended family. Her smothered steak, potato salad, pinto beans and homemade bread were special favorites of the family.
Rosie loved bringing her family together, either through Sunday dinners or on shopping trips with her daughters and granddaughters and she spent many Sunday evenings on her mother’s front porch catching up with her sisters. Her grandkids and great grandkids looked forward to time with RoRo because she always found ways to help them bend the rules a bit. She treasured time with her family and left them with an inheritance of love and joy.
Rosemary is survived by her daughters, Priscilla Finch and husband Skipper Irle of Gonzales, Janet Flynt and husband Allen of League City, sister Doris Baros of Gonzales, grandchildren Kathryn Sedlar “Daniel”, Sarah Kidwell “Shawn”, John Finch “Jennifer”, Emily Flynt and Jacob Flynt and great-grandchildren Valerie, Benjamin, Addie, Charlotte, Clara and Irene. She was preceded in death by her husbands, parents, son-in-law Larry Finch and sister, Jo Boothe.
The family will receive friends from 9 am to 9:30 am on Saturday, October 12, 2024, at St. James Catholic Church and prayers of the Holy Rosary will follow at 9:30 am. A Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at St. James Catholic Church at 10 am with Fr. Jason Martini as celebrant. Interment will follow in St. James Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Gonzales Public Library or the charity of one’s choice. The family would like to extend their appreciation for the loving care given to their mother by Heart to Heart Hospice, the team at the Heights of Gonzales and Dr. Commie Hisey.
