Rubeian Tovar Cantu

Rubeian Tovar Cantu, 63, of Splendora, Texas passed away on Saturday, Jan. 2, 2021 at Yoakum Nursing & Rehab in Yoakum, Texas.

Graveside Services are under the direction of Buffington Funeral Home in Gonzales, Texas and will be held on Monday, Jan. 11, 2021 at 3 p.m. at Gonzales Memorial Park Cemetery in Gonzales, Texas. Visitation will be held on Monday, Jan. 11, 2021 at Buffington Funeral Home from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.

Rubeian was born on Oct. 28, 1957 in Killeen, Texas. He was the son of Alex and Eugenia (Tovar) Cantu. He worked as a truck driver. Rubeian married Lillie Holcombe on December 18, 1999 in Houston, Texas.

Rubeian liked to play dominoes with his friends. He liked to play football, basketball, and kickball with the kids. Rubeian enjoyed watching westerns on tv, traveling, and having barbecues.

Rubeian is survived by his loving wife: Lillie; three sons: Matias Cantu and his wife, Leslie, of Houston, Texas, Matthew Cantu of San Antonio, Texas, and Adam Holcombe of Houston, Texas; three daughters: Erica Piette and her husband, David, of San Antonio, Texas, Amelie Cantu of San Antonio, Texas, and Carla Cantu of Houston, Texas; one brother: Eduardo Cantu of Houston, Texas; six sisters: Maria Carrizales and her husband, Anastacio, of San Antonio, Texas, Esther Nicholson of Harrison, Arkansas, Estella Spain of LaPorte, Texas, Ruth Lea of LaPorte, Texas, Amelie Placios of Austin, Texas, and Eugenia Ramirez of Fort Worth, Texas; 11 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Alex and Eugenia Cantu; one daughter: Monica Cantu; two sisters, and 11brothers.

Pallbearers for Mr. Cantu will be; Eduardo Cantu, Matthew Cantu, Joshua Piette, Jacob Piette, and Adam Holcombe. Honorary Pallbearers will be; Bradley Greeno, and David Piette.
