Ruben Arellano

Ruben Arellano, of Gonzales, passed away on Monday, July 4, 2022, at the age of 67. He was born on September 17, 1954, in Gonzales, to Marcelino Arellano and Ernestina Rivera Arellano. Ruben served in the United States Air Force. He was an active member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church and valued his Christian faith. 

Ruben lived in Houston most of his adult life. He attended the University of Houston and was a big fan of the Houston Astros. He moved back to Gonzales in 2014, to settle in his hometown. He spent lots of time with his adored son and grandchildren. In his spare time, Ruben enjoyed dancing, reading, and interacting with people. He also enjoyed attending church with his friends, and he loved his trips to New York. Ruben also would be commonly found enjoying a meal and a treat at Dairy Queen. He was a huge history buff, and always enjoyed watching the black and white TV shows. 

Ruben is survived by his son, Ruben Arellano, Jr. and wife Katya, of Spring, Tx, sisters, Gloria Torres and husband Michael Torres, Jr., Rachel Garza and husband Fred Garza, Jr., Olivia Arellano, and Sylvia Schwausch and husband Justin Schwausch, all of Gonzales, 2 grandchildren, Ruby and Martin Arellano, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Luis Arellano. 

A visitation will be held on Thursday, July 7, 2022, from 5:00 until 7:00 PM in Seydler-Hill Funeral Home. A rosary will follow and begin at 7:00 PM. A funeral mass will be held on Friday, July 8, 2022, at 10:00 AM in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, with Father Jason Martini officiating. Pallbearers include: Ryan Arellano, Kobe Schwausch, Michael Torres, III, Justin Schwausch, Michael Torres, Jr., Fred Garza, Jr., and Greg Clack. Honorary pallbearers include: Roland Martinez, Tony Ramirez, Alisa Clack, Haley Garza, Kaitlyn Taylor, Kilee Schwausch, Megan Torres, Jacob Clack, Ashlynn Clack, Brianna Torres, Ryan Jay Arellano, Rylah Arellano, and Brandon Sirildo. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the: Faith Family Church, Women Rise Up Ministries, or Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
