Ruth “Darlene” Bruns

Ruth “Darlene” Bruns, 83, of Luling, formerly of Gonzales, went to her Lord and Savior Wednesday, Dec. 30, 2020. Darlene was born July 30, 1937 in Gonzales to Louis Baros and Frances Ruth Nelson Baros. She married Louis Henry Bruns on May 7, 1960 in the Gonzales First Evangelical Lutheran Church. She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Luling.

Darlene was born and raised in Gonzales and attended school there. She graduated with the Gonzales High School Class of 1956. She attended Texas State Teacher’s College before marrying in 1960. Though Darlene grew up attending the Hamon Baptist Church, she was confirmed in the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Gonzales. Darlene worked as a receptionist/bookkeeper for Warm Springs Rehabilitation Hospital and later as receptionist/bookkeeper for Dr. T.D. Crews Medical Clinic.

Darlene had been active in the First Evangelical Lutheran church as a member of the Altar Guild, the Choir and where she had taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. At Trinity Lutheran Church she had been a member of the Altar Guild as well. She was a quiet yet caring lady who loved her family. Darlene loved family gatherings.

Darlene endured many health challenges throughout her life, but these issues were never burdening, just challenges that through her faith she placed in the hands of her Lord and trusted His grace would lead her through all things. Always by her side was her husband of 60 years who faithfully stood by to care for and pray with her through good times and bad times.

Ruth Darlene Bruns is survived by her husband: Louis Henry Bruns of Luling; brother and sister-in-law: Ronnie Lee and Brenda Nance of Corpus Christi; sister-in-law: Billie J. Bruns; nephews: Trey Nance “Connie”, Tommy Bruns “Theresa”; great niece: Emily Nance; great nephews: Chris Bruns “Carrie”, Cody Bruns, and great-great nephew, Thomas Blake Bruns.

She is preceded in death by her parents; grandparents: Arthur and Eva Nelson; brother: Roger Nance; father-in-law and mother-in-law: Edwin and Lola Bruns; brother-in-law: Harold Bruns; and beloved cousin: Peggy Kimball.

The family will receive friends from noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 6, 2021 in Seydler-Hill Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 6, 2021 in the Gonzales Hermann Sons Cemetery with Pastor Ildiko Rigney officiating.
