Salvador Sam Sirilo

Salvador Sam Sirilo, Jr., 55, of Waelder, Texas passed away on Monday, Dec. 28, 2020 at his residence.

Funeral Mass is under the direction of Buffington Funeral Home in Gonzales, Texas and will be held on Tuesday January 5, 2021 at 2 p.m. at Saint James Catholic Church in Gonzales, Texas with Father Paul Raaz officiating. Interment will follow at Saint James Catholic Cemetery in Gonzales, Texas. Visitation will be on Tuesday, Jan. 5, 2021 at the funeral home from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. with a Rosary being recited at 12 p.m.

Sam was born on May 17, 1965 in Gonzales, Texas. He was the son of Salvador Sam and Ysabel Ybarbo (Johnson) Sirilo, Sr. Sam married Gloria Ibarra on Dec. 22, 1986 before the Justice of the Peace, and they renewed their wedding vows on Dec. 15, 2007 at the Catholic Church in Gonzales with Father Paul Raaz officiating the ceremony.

Sam liked to go fishing as often as he could. He enjoyed his mancave and watching the Longhorns, Astros, Texans, and Oilers. He liked to barbecue for family and friends, as well as doing benefits for those in need. He loved playing with his grandson. Sam was a mechanic, and liked to tinker in the garage. He liked caring for his yard. He worked as an electrician for GVEC prior to working for McCoys as a truck driver. Sam retired from the City of Luling.

Sam liked to travel with Gloria, and go on cruises, and going to casinos. For Gloria’s 50th birthday, Sam took her to Graceland. Sam would go see his mother every Sunday morning. He played poker every Sunday in Cistern.

Sam is survived by his loving wife of 40 years: Gloria; two sons: Dominick Issac Sirio of Waelder, Texas, and Christopher Eddie Sirilo of Waelder, Texas; his mother: Ysabel Ybarbo Johnson of Gonzales, Texas; four brothers: Alfonso Sirilo and his wife, Janie, of Schulenburg, Texas, Rayne Sirilo of Gonzales, Texas, Alonzo Sirilo and his wife, Kristina, of Gonzales, Texas, Lee, and Anthony Sirilo and his wife, Faye of Gonzales, Texas; two sisters: Lisa Ann Johnson of Gonzales, Texas, and Lou Ann Johnson of Gonzales, Texas; one grandson: Rylan Zane Sirilo; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father: Salvador Sam Sirilo, Sr.

Pallbearers for Mr. Sirilo will be: Alonzo Sirilo, Lee Anthony Sirilo, Rayne Sirilo, Abelardo Ibarra, Jr., Dominick Sirilo, and Christopher Sirilo. Honorary Pallbearer will be; Alfonso Sirilo.
