Scott Allen Whitescarver

Scott Allen Whitescarver was born on December 19, 1965, to Victoria (Pelc) and Larry Whitescarver in Dearborn, Michigan.  

He grew up as the first and beloved grandson, spending much time surrounded by his grandparents, Ozie and Edgar Whitescarver, Aunt Billie, and Uncle Phil, all who were his biggest and best influences in life.  Though an only child, he had close family on his mother's side and grew up playing little league and sports with his cousins.

Scott followed his mother to Texas in 1980 where he gained more wonderful family ties with the marriage of Vicky to Calvin Koehler.  Scott fell in love with Texas and called it his home.   Graduating Floresville High School in 1983, he attended Texas State Technical Institute in Waco and earned his associates degree in Welding.  He launched from there and began a lifetime of traveling with work.

With his first job, Scott left Texas for Wyoming with just enough money to get there but none left for his return trip home.  Even at the age of 19, Scott showed fortitude that most people would never know. 

In 1990, working a job in Amarillo, Scott met April.  They were wed in 1991 and spent 31 wonderful years raising three sons, Austin, Eli and Jamison.  Scott instilled his generosity, kindness, work ethic and love of music and history in his sons. 

Even though Scott traveled and was often away from home, he and April were married in mind and spirit.  Their love for each other and their family reflected that bond, whether side by side or 3000 miles apart.   He always returned home to work on the turn-of-the-century home that he and April dreamed of restoring by themselves. 

Scott was first influenced by his grandmother, Ozie, then later studied the Bible with friends as an adult.  Like everything Scott did, he studied independently and came away with a deep and abiding faith in God.  Scott and April became members of the Presbyterian Church of Gonzalas, where they worshiped with their sons. 

Since the recent birth of their first grandson, Roland, Scott and April have done nothing but make plans on how to surround themselves with Roland and his anticipated siblings and cousins.

Scott brought his kind and generous spirit of music and laughter everywhere he went.  Everyone we spoke with has a story of Scott helping and making them laugh.  You cannot sum up the life of a man like Scott in a few paragraphs.  For every word written, there are a thousand thoughtful ways this man touched peoples’ lives and brought happiness.  If you knew him, you were blessed. 

Scott is survived by his mom, Victoria Koehler, stepfather Calvin Koehler, his wife, April Whitescarver, his son’s, Austin (Natasa), Eli (Kathryn) and Jamison, and his grandson, Roland, and his mother-in-law, Karen Austin.

A memorial service will be held at Presbyterian Church of Gonzales on Sunday, March 27, 2022 at 2:00 p.m.
