Born on June 26, 1962, in Seguin, Texas, to parents Ivan and Betty Nowotny, she moved to Gonzales, Texas, with her parents at the age of three months and resided in Gonzales her entire life. The oldest of four children, she learned a strong work ethic from her parents that would follow her throughout her life.

She graduated from Gonzales High School in the Class of 1980. On July 18, 1981, she would marry the love of her life, Ronnie Tate. Together they raised three children who brought her much pride and joy. Becoming a Gigi to her four grandchildren also brought great joy. Watching her grandchildren’s activities in the Round Rock area was a special treat, and she attended as many events as possible.

She especially enjoyed getaways to the Texas coast fishing and relaxing on the beach with her children and grandchildren. She also enjoyed family trips to Lake Charles and Bossier City, LA and was an avid Dallas Cowboys and Houston Astros fan.

Her career primarily encompassed the mental health sector. She was the property manager of Gonzales Independence Homes and served on various boards. She was an advocate and problem-solver and was gifted with a flair for design. Helping others brought her much joy as she was always willing to lend a helping hand.

Shari became a lifetime member of Beta Sigma Phi sorority in 1989 and was a member of the First Lutheran Church of Gonzales.

Shari is survived by her husband, Ronnie Tate, children, Christopher Tate and wife Nicki of Round Rock, Jennifer Tate of Shiner, and stepson Stephen Tate of Martindale. She is also survived by her mother, Betty Nowotny, and sisters, Karen Fougerat (Kenneth) of Gonzales; Marilyn Krum (Richard) of Victoria; and Alan Nowotny (Rebecca) of Gonzales. Grandchildren, Taylor Tate, Tinley Tate, Josh Hernandez, and Kali Hernandez and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, parents-in-law Milton and Willene Tate of Gonzales, sister-in-law Beverly Shatto, brother-in-law Dennis Tate, and great-nephew Hudson Nowotny, grandparents, aunts, and uncles.
