Sharon Lee Hunter

Sharon Lee Hunter was born March 31, 1945 at Robstown, Nueces Co., Tx. To Garland Ralph Hunter and Dorothy Lee Nehring Hunter. She passed away on May 27, 2021 at her home in Gonzales, Tx. Sharon married Alton Ray Hall on June 25, 1980 at Hamilton, Hamilton Co. Tx.

During her long and busy lifetime, Sharon wore many hats: as a CPA assistant, housekeeping at a motel, and finally being owner, driver, service person and whatever needed to be done while owning Hall Propane Co., in Port O’Connor with Ray Hall. They later moved to Port Lavaca from Port O’Connor.

Before selling the propane company she became interested in genealogy and spent countless hours researching information on her family. Upon selling the company and house, she and Mr. Hall moved to Gonzales County, and there Sharon continued searching tirelessly for more ancestors. She also helped many others in their “ancestor searches.”

She loved her flowers and tended to them. She fed the deer, ducks, and birds of all kinds, buying 50 bags of milo and carrying them back home on her own. Sharon was a true conservationist.

Shoes were a downfall and she loved the beautiful clothes Ray Hall lavished her with, oh my! She loved helping everyone she could, including sending donations to political activists or anyone asking, including the men and women on the street corners. She was always giving, a true philanthropist.

She never met a stranger and liked to tell “true” stories. She was best known for her always happy attitude and she had a big smile for everyone she met. She was very dedicated to her friends, keeping up with them through visits, phone calls, taking them to lunch, or where they needed to go.

She was a member of The Thomas Shelton DAR, John Brewer Chapter CDXVIIC, David Crockett Chapter USD 1812, and a member at-large of DRT.

Sharon was preceded in death by her husband Ray Hall, February 24, 2015, her parents Garland Ralph & Dorothy Lee Hunter. She is survived by her son Phillip Hall, sister Linda Simmons, and brother Garland Hunter, three grandchildren, special niece Billie Jo Chafin and numerous other nieces and nephews. And many special friends she made in her travels through life.
