A Smiley woman who had been missing for nine days was found safe by authorities on Tuesday, Aug. 13 and will be reunited with her family.

The Smiley Marshal’s Office and the Gonzales County Sheriff’s Office had been searching for 31-year-old Christina McGee since Aug. 4, the last day she had been in contact with her family.

“The most awesome news and has been confirmed,” McGee’s mother, Tonya Collins, posted on Facebook Tuesday. “CHRISTINA HAS BEEN FOUND!! THANK YOU EVERYONE FOR ALL YOUR PRAYERS. MUCH LOVE TO YOU ALL.

“I have never been so relieved in my life. Both Jason Torres and Detective Burdick (hope I spelled that right) have been amazing.”

McGee had gone missing in the New Braunfels area and her disappearance was enough to urge family members — concerned for her safety — to call law enforcement to help find the 5-foot-3, 150-pound woman after searching for her themselves for several hours.

Family members, including Collins, Tina McGee and Rae McGee, made numerous posts on social media pleading for the public to help locate their loved one and also passed out flyers in the New Braunfels area. Their prayers and efforts paid off with the safe return of Christina McGee.

There was no further information about where McGee had been while missing, except for officials to say she was safe.
