Solar flare may have caused brief electrical outage

About half of the city of Gonzales experienced a brief electrical power outage that also knocked out telephone and internet service as well on Tuesday, Sept. 6.

The incident occurred at about 8 p.m. Tuesday and knocked out landline communications at the Gonzales County Sheriff’s Office. It is possible some of the disruption may have been connected to a solar flare and sunspot activity, which may have created geomagnetic storm activity.

Electrical power as well as internet and telephone service was restored within the hour.
