Apaches stay within reach of a playoff berth
The Gonzales Apaches beat San Antonio Brooks Academy 54-47 in boys basketball to stay within striking district of the playoffs. The Apaches are 2-3 in District 30-4A, good for fifth behind Pleasanton (5-0), La Vernia (4-1), Navarro (4-1) and Cuero (2-3). Gonzales hosts La Vernia on Friday before traveling to Cuero next Tuesday. Both games are scheduled to tip off at 7:45 p.m.

Lady Apaches blow out SA Brooks, stay on top of district
Staying on top of District 30-4A girls basketball are the Gonzales Lady Apaches (6-0) who allowed just 11 points in their 46-11 victory over San Antonio Brooks Academy (0-7) last Friday. The win extended the team’s district unbeaten streak to six games. This Friday, Gonzales hosts La Vernia (5-2) before traveling to take on Cuero (4-3) next Tuesday. Both games are scheduled to tip off at 6:15 p.m.

Wildcats stay unbeaten in district
The #13 Waelder Wildcats blew out McDade 81-31 last Friday to remain unbeaten in District 30-1A. They host #13 Dime Box (5-0) to finish out the first round of district this Friday at 6:15 p.m. The Wildcats then travel to Prairie Lea (1-4) on Tuesday, with tipoff scheduled at 6:15 p.m.

Nearing the midpoint in district play, the Luling Lady Eagles remain state ranked and unbeaten in District 27-3A, knocking off Karnes City last Friday 57-51 and dominating Stockdale on Tuesday 61-39. #13 Luling (4-0) hosts Nixon-Smiley (0-4) to close out the first round of district before traveling to Yoakum on Tuesday. Both games are scheduled to tip off at 6:15 p.m.

The Luling Eagles boys basketball team started out District 27-3A strong with a 56-43 win over Karnes City last Friday and 49-45 win over Stockdale on Tuesday. The Eagles host Nixon-Smiley (0-2) on Friday before traveling to Yoakum (0-2) on Tuesday to continue district play.

Apaches win one, draw another in non-district soccer
The Gonzales Apaches boys soccer team beat Taylor last Friday 2-0, then drew 3-3 against Burbank on Tuesday to continue their non-district portion of the season. They host Canyon Lake on Friday for a game at 7 p.m. before hosting Poteet for district play next Tuesday, Jan. 28 at 7 p.m.
Lady Apaches close out non-district this Friday
The Gonzales Lady Apaches lost 5-1 against Bay City last Tuesday, Jan. 14. They close out non-district with a 6 p.m. game on the road against Needville this Friday. Gonzales hosts Poteet next Tuesday, Jan. 28 to begin district play a 5 p.m.
