Sucher, Anzaldua confirmed to square off in mayor runoff election

The Gonzales runoff mayor elections are set as S.H. “Steve” Sucher and Isaac Anzaldua received the top two amount of votes for their nominations.

Mayor pro-temp Bobby O’Neil read the general election results during last Thursday’s city council meeting; Sucher received 324 votes, Anzaldua received 271 votes, and Todd Bright received 235 votes.

The council approved to set the election day for Tuesday, June 14, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. at four precinct locations; Precinct 1: Randle Rather Building (427 St. George #100), Precinct 2: Gonzales Master Gardener’s (623 N. Fair St.), and Precinct 3: Gonzales City Building (820 St. Joseph) and Precinct 12: Riverside Community Center (110 St. Lawrence Street).

In other business, the council approved four resolutions:

–Approved (4-0) to authorize the city manager to enter a lease agreement with Yamaha Motor Finance Corporation for a four-year lease on 10 Yamaha Drive2 QuieTech fleet golf carts for an annual amount of $6,960.

–Approved (4-0) to correct original amendment to original agreement and amendments between the Gonzales Economic Development Corporation and Winbin Ventures LLC.

–Approved (4-0) authorization the appointments for the Gonzales Convention & Visitors Bureau, Gonzales Economic Development Corporation, and Main Street Advisory Board.

–Approved (4-0) the leasing agreement with Enterprise Fleet Management, Inc. for the lease of budgeted departmental vehicles and authorizing the city manager to execute said agreement.

The next city council meeting is set for Thursday, June 9, at 6 p.m.
