Summer Concert Series moves to Saturdays this June

The Gonzales Main Street Advisory Board held its regular meeting Thursday, March 24, 2022. Several upcoming events were covered and other agenda items were noted, as well as two public comments.

The public comments included a comment from Andy Rodriguez, a representative from the Gonzales Economic Development Corporation (GEDC), inviting the board members to an upcoming Community Economic Development Lunch & Learn Workshop focusing on community organizations working together for the economic development and betterment of the entire community.

There was an announcement also made from the board, according to Main Street director Tiffany Padilla: “Jay Garner, president and founder of Garner Economics, will be a speaker to the board” at an upcoming board meeting.

Discussed during the meeting was consideration and the subsequent nomination and election of Christine Presley for Main Street Advisory Board vice president.

Upcoming events discussed were the Summer Concert Series event, and it was decided that the event would be held every Saturday in June 2022. The Star Spangled Spectacular will be held on Monday, July 4, 2022.

Cinco de Mayo and Trade Day events have not yet been decided upon, at the time of this report. Happy Fall Ya’ll is tentatively scheduled for October 29, 2022, pending coordination with other events such as Trunk or Treating for an overall better collaboration and enjoyment of the community.

The Gonzales Winterfest will be held the first weekend of December 2022, with the festival’s downtown events being held Dec. 3.

According to Ms. Padilla, the year-end reports were all approved, filed and are up to date. All taxes are likewise up to date and paid in full.
