It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Sylvia Leal, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, who left us at the age of 67 on August 12, 2024, at home in Gonzales, Texas. Sylvia passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family and dedicated caregivers, following a gradual decline in health.
Sylvia was Born in Shiner, Texas, to Lionisio and Amelia Banda Sr., she is survived by her brothers Michael Banda, Richard Banda (Sylvia Banda) , Lionisio Banda Jr (Michelle Banda) all from Gonzales and Oscar Banda (Terry Banda) from Seguin, Texas. She is preceded in death by her parents Lionisio and Amelia Banda Sr. And sisters Gloria Banda and Gloria Banda Contreras.
Sylvia lived a life devoted to her family and community. For many years, she embraced the role of a homemaker and at-home childcare provider, caring for other children as if they were her own. Her nurturing spirit and love for the little ones in her care brought joy to many and created lasting bonds.
Sylvia had a passion for family and cherished the moments spent with her loved ones. She enjoyed traveling to visit family and friends, and her warm conversations—whether in person or over the phone—were a testament to her love and connection with those she held dear. A spirited player of Loteria, or "Mexican bingo," Sylvia delighted in the laughter and camaraderie it brought. She also never missed an episode of her favorite show, "The Price is Right."
Above all, Sylvia was a woman of faith, known for her unwavering prayers for her family. Her love, kindness, and devotion will be deeply missed but forever cherished by all who knew her.
Sylvia is survived by her loving husband Erasmo Ibarra Leal, her daughters Mary Leal Hernandez (husband Joe Hernandez) of Victoria, Texas and Alice Leal Anzaldua (husband Lawrence Anzaldua) of Gonzales, her 10 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. Her family will continue to honor her memory and the values she instilled in them.
Rest in peace, Sylvia. You will always hold a special place in our hearts.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, August 18, 2024, from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at Seydler – Hill Funeral Home, with a rosary being recited at 7:00pm. A mass of the resurrection will take place at 10:00am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, interment will follow at St. James Catholic Cemetery.
