Thomas William Rice of Gonzales, Texas, previously from Houston, Texas, was born May 27, 1929, in Akron, Ohio to Lillian and Richard Rice. He passed away at his home on Monday, June 8, 2020.

Tom was an avid hunter and loved dancing, cooking, and being with family. He worked for Freightliner Trucks for over 50 years starting as a mechanic. He then traveled the world for them as a salesperson, touching ground on every continent except Australia and Antarctica

Thomas is preceded in death by his three sisters, Faith, Betty, and Margie, a brother Richard, and two sons, David, and Roger.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Lydia Rice of Houston; a daughter Nancy Seay and husband Kenneth of Fort Worth, Texas; and a son Thomas “Butch” E. Rice and wife Donna of Cedar Park, Texas.

Tom was a grandfather to seven, great-grandfather to 11, and great-great-grandfather to seven grandchildren and leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews. He will be greatly missed.

The family received friends June 9 at Seydler-Hill Funeral Home. Funeral services were held Wednesday, June 10, 2020, in Seydler-Hill Funeral Home with Rev. Paul Smith officiating. Interment followed in Monthalia United Methodist Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Kyle Tedder, Cody Cook, Buddy Godfrey, Mike Finstead, Nolan Hodges, Shannon Finstead, Ashley Hodges, and Shawn Godfrey.
