Tourism director to resign

Posted

Gonzales Convention and Visitor Bureau (GCVB) Tourism Director Clinton ‘Clint’ Hille publicly announced his resignation at the GCVB board meeting on June 20th. His official last day is Friday, June 28.

Hille is resigning to “take advantage of another career opportunity.” He has served as the first and only tourism director since the position was created in 2017. In May, 2019 the board recommended the continuation of the tourism director position to city council. When the position was created in 2017, it was recommended that city council review the effectiveness of the role in two years.

“I’m going to recommend, as a citizen, that the position be continued and that they put more value into that position from the standpoint of salary to be able to attract someone who is qualified to basically carry on the momentum that we started,” Hille said. “It has been a collective effort between the Chamber, EDC, Main Street, CVB and a lot of the merchants.”
