Unemployment rate decreased to 3.1 percent in Gonzales County

Unemployment in Gonzales County decreased to 3.1 percent in September 2022, from 3.2 percent in August 2022, the lowest rate of all seven counties which comprise the Golden Crescent Workforce Development Area, according to state Labor Market Information (LMI) figures released by the Texas Workforce Commission (TWC).

For the entire Golden Crescent Workforce Development Area, the unemployment rate for September 2022 was 3.7percent, slightly lower to the state average of 3.8 percent. This represented a total of 3,347 residents in Gonzales, Calhoun, DeWitt, Goliad, Jackson, Lavaca and Victoria counties seeking employment out of a total workforce of 90,374 people.

Tying Gonzales County, Dewitt county also recorded the lowest unemployment, at 3.1 percent, followed by Lavaca and Jackson Counties at 3.3 percent, Calhoun was 3.5 percent, Victoria was at 4.2 percent and Goliad County at 4.5 percent.

For September 2022, there were 293 individuals in Gonzales County seeking employment out of a workforce of 9,561with 9,268 reported as employed. In August 2022, there were 310 people seeking work in Gonzales County out of an employment force of 9,579 for a total unemployment rate of 3.2 percent.

In September 2021, Gonzales County had an unemployment rate of 3.8 percent. Unemployment rates since August2020 for Gonzales County are:
