Unemployment rate remains steady at 3.1 percent in Gonzales County

Unemployment in Gonzales County remained steady at 3.1 percent in October 2022, the second to lowest rate of all seven counties which comprise the Golden Crescent Workforce Development Area, according to state Labor Market Information (LMI) figures released by the Texas Workforce Commission (TWC).

For the entire Golden Crescent Workforce Development Area, the unemployment rate for October 2022 was 3.7percent, slightly lower to the state average of 3.8 percent. This represented a total of 3,304 residents in Gonzales, Calhoun, DeWitt, Goliad, Jackson, Lavaca and Victoria counties seeking employment out of a total workforce of 89,994 people.

The only county reporting in lower than Gonzales County is Dewitt County, with the lowest unemployment rate at 3.0percent; followed by Gonzales at 3.1 percent; Lavaca, Jackson and Calhoun counties at 3.3 percent; Victoria was at 4.1percent and Goliad County at 4.5 percent.

For October 2022, there were 292 individuals in Gonzales County seeking employment out of a workforce of 90,374with 9,261 reported as employed. In September 2022, there were 269 people seeking work in Gonzales County out of an employment force of 8,434 for a total unemployment rate of 3.1 percent. In October 2021, Gonzales County had an unemployment rate of 3.6 percent.
