Unemployment rate remains steady at 3.1 percent in Gonzales County

Unemployment in Gonzales County remained steady at 3.1 percent in November 2022, the second to lowest rate of all seven counties which comprise the Golden Crescent Workforce Development Area, for the third month straight, according to state Labor Market Information (LMI) figures released by the Texas Workforce Commission (TWC).

For the entire Golden Crescent Workforce Development Area, the unemployment rate for November 2022 was 3.6percent, slightly lower to the state average of 3.7 percent. This represented a total of 3,219 residents in Gonzales, Calhoun, DeWitt, Goliad, Jackson, Lavaca and Victoria counties seeking employment out of a total workforce of 90,329 people.

The county reporting in lower than Gonzales County is Dewitt County, with the lowest unemployment rate at 2.9percent, followed by Gonzales at 3.1 percent, Lavaca, Jackson and Calhoun Counties at 3.2 percent, Victoria was at 4.0percent and Goliad County at 4.4 percent.

For November 2022, there were 287 individuals in Gonzales County seeking employment out of a workforce of 9,342with 9,055 reported as employed. In October 2022, there were 291 people seeking work in Gonzales County out of an employment force of 9,359 for a total unemployment rate of 3.1 percent.

In November 2021, Gonzales County had an unemployment rate of 3.5 percent. The 2.6 percent unadjusted unemployment rate for April 2022 was the lowest seen in Gonzales County since it was just 2.7 percent in March 2022.
