VOLLEYBALL: Unpleasant outcome for Gonzales against Pleasanton

The Gonzales Lady Apaches hosted Pleasanton Friday, Oct. 8, but the outcome was not a pleasant one for the home team.

The Lady Apaches fell in straight sets — 25-17, 25-15 and 25-16 — to the Lady Eagles at the Gonzales High School gymnasium. Gonzales is now 8-25 on the season and 0-4 in district play, while Pleasanton, who is ranked No. 10 in the state in Class 4A, improves to 31-3 overall and 3-1 in district.

Mckenzie Hodges was the top hitter for the Lady Apaches with 11 kills, while Macy Sample had nine assists. Audrey Martinez collected 15 digs while Kristyn Baker had three service aces.

Gonzales has a bye on Tuesday, Oct. 12, and then returns to action at home on Friday, Oct. 15, against Cuero.
