U.S. 183 crash kills Del Valle woman

A Del Valle woman died in a two-vehicle collision one mile north of Gonzales on U.S. Highway 183 Monday afternoon, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.

DPS Staff Sgt. Kenny Mata said Abigail Zapata, 19, was driving a 2000 Mercedes southbound on U.S. 183 at 5:49 p.m. Nov. 22 when, for reasons unknown at this time, her vehicle left the southbound lane and entered the northbound lane, where it struck a Ford F-350 pickup.

Zapata was pronounced dead at the scene. There were no other injuries reported in the accident, which Mata said is still under investigation at this time. The victim’s next of kin has been notified.
