Department of State Health Services data now includes the count of people who were vaccinated at the Feb. 4 clinic held at J.B. Wells Park, Arena and Expo.

The county had been allocated 400 doses of Moderna COVID-19 vaccine, which were administered and are reflected in the 1,575 people the DSHS shows have received at least one of the two doses necessary to become vaccinated. Still, only 548 people are fully vaccinated in Gonzales County, with no additional allocations of vaccine on the horizon.

There were 111 active cases of COVID-19 in the county as of Tuesday, Feb. 9, with 2,272 recovered and 49 deaths reported, according to daily reports shared by Gonzales County Judge Patrick C. Davis. Between Wednesday, Feb. 2 and Tuesday, Feb. 9, 92 new cases were reported. This brings the total number of reported cases in the county to 2,432.

Hospitalizations in Trauma Service Area P, which includes Gonzales County have not risen or fallen by very much over the course of the last week. Lab-confirmed cases of COVID-19 made up 14.99% of total hospital capacity as of Monday, Feb. 8. This is the first day hospitalizations have remained below 15%. If hospitalizations continue to decrease or remain at 15%, the TSA will qualify again for Executive Order GA-32, allowing bars and retail businesses to reopen or increase their operation capacity.
