VOLLEYBALL: Lady Apaches fall to Sacred Heart, Goliad

The Gonzales Lady Apaches volleyball team varsity lost in four sets at home to Hallettsville Sacred Heart on Tuesday, Sept. 21.

The final scores were 15-25, 22-25, 25-19 and 21-25, as the Lady Apaches showed a lot of heart and determination, but were just unable to break through for the overall win.

Mckenzie Hodges led all Gonzales players with seven of the team’s 23 kills and two of its seven service aces, while Macy Sample had six of the team’s 36 digs and eight of its 22 assists.

The JV team lost in two sets to the Lady Indians as well, while the freshman squad lost in three sets.

The Lady Apaches also went to Goliad but came back on the short end of a three-set match Friday, Sept. 17.

Gonzales fell to the Lady Tigers, 14-25, 12-25 and 11-25.

Mckenzie Hodges had seven of the team’s 18 kills and two of its six service aces, while Macy Sample had six of the team’s 32 digs and eight of its 16 assists to lead the Lady Apaches.

The Lady Apaches next travel to Cuero on Tuesday, Sept. 28 for their first district match.
