Wade Gordon

Posted

On September 21, 2021, Wade Gordon, 65, of Nixon, Texas went home to Heaven. Wade was born on April 19, 1956, in Nixon, Texas, to Merlin C. and Bessie Pearl (Grantham) Gordon.

He is preceded in death by his father in 1989, and mother only six weeks ago. He is also preceded in death by his mother-in-law, Joyce Patteson, and a niece, Brenda Johnson.

Wade married Patricia Patteson on February 14, 1981, after a three-month relationship, followed by a three-week engagement. They were later blessed with  Kyle and Kara. There weren't many baseball fields, football stadiums, or gymnasiums that Wade hasn't been in to see his kids play sports. He loved following Kyle and his friends participating in Ranch Rodeos all over the state, and  Kara showing her steers.

Then, in 2012, within four months came three perfect baby boys, followed by a little princess in 2017. His grandkids were his pride and joy. He could come home tired from work, but they could always bring a smile to his face.

Wade's best cooking took place outside. Cooking on a disk or grill over a fire or a pit were his specialties. Cook-outs and cook-offs were the perfect time for laughs,   storytelling and beer drinking with those he loved and enjoyed. Wade loved his family and his friends with all his heart. He loved having his kids' friends around... day or night, the door was always open. He considered them "his kids" and called them "kids" even after they were 40 years old.

Wade was known for his dancing. When a good song was played, he and Patricia were usually the first on the floor. His favorite dancing songs were by Gary Stewart, Johnny Bush, and George Strait, and he wasn't above yelling for the band to play one of them. If he wasn't dancing, he was singing off key and playing that air guitar just like a pro. Everyone knew when Wade entered a room, and we  know he made the same entry into Heaven.

Wade will be dearly missed by his wife of 40 years, Patricia; his children, Kyle & Hayley Gordon, Kara Gordon and Shane Garner, and bonus daughter Courtney Cochran; his grandsons, Grady Wyatt Posas, Hayden Dwight Gordon, Brayden Wade Gordon; his granddaughter, Hadley Faith Posas; his sister, Linda Bishop (Rickey); his brother and business partner for many years, Dale Gordon (Laura); father-in-law, Z.G. Patteson; sister-in-law Trlica Pieprzica (Larry Schuenemann); his aunts, Jimmie Gordon who was like his second mother, Lottie O'Neal, and Gladys  Wood (Wilbur); Uncle, Pete Grantham (Linda); numerous nephews and nieces that he deeply loved; cousins, and  many, many friends.

Visitation with family was held at First Baptist Church in Nixon on Friday, September 24, 2021, from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. The funeral service was held at 3 p.m. Friday, September 24, 2021, at the First Baptist Church, Nixon. Wade was laid to rest in the Nixon Cemetery following the service. Pastor Terry Davis and Pastor Jim Kennedy officiated the services.
