Wednesday's vaccine clinic moved to THRIVE Healthplex

The Wednesday, May 19 Gonzales County vaccine clinic has been moved to the THRIVE Healthplex, 1300 Captain Albert Martin Trail, from the J.B. Wells Expo. The hours remain from 12 p.m. to 7 p.m.

There will be 500 doses of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine, which does not require a follow-up shot.

This is the first clinic in which the county will resume the use of the Johnson & Johnson Janssen vaccine after it was paused and re-authorized by the Food and Drug Administration and Centers for Disease Control, following reports of rare blood clots.

Department of State Health Services data shows that vaccination counts are still increasing quite slowly, even as the availability increases.

This data also shows that 63.58% of seniors 65 and up have been fully vaccinated in Gonzales County as of Monday, May 10. As for those who have only received one dose of either the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine, 69.12% of those 65 and up have received at least one shot.

For those age 16 and up, 36.15% are fully vaccinated, and 41.90% have received at least one injection of a vaccine.

This leaves 30.88% of seniors and 58.10% of those 16 and over who have not yet received an injection of the Moderna or Pfizer vaccines.
