Yolanda Almaguer, 44, of Gonzales passed away Saturday, December 18, 2021. Yolanda was born June 18, 1977 in Gonzales to Vincente and Enedina Herrera. She was a member of the Gonzales Catholic Community.

Though Yolanda was born in Gonzales, she was raised in Flatonia and attended school there. What the family lacked monetarily, they made up for with an abundance of love. Yolanda, the youngest girl in the family of ten. She was the mother figure to all. As her parents and older siblings worked to provide for their family, there was Yolanda, holding them all to together.

Yolanda met Javier Almaguer while they were both working at J Bar B. Javier’s persistence and patience in his attempts to date Yolanda eventually paid off and they married December 18, 1995 in Schulenburg. Together they raised 3 children while Yolanda attended college and saw to the needs of her husband and children. Her love of family grew stronger with the addition of 4 grandchildren which she helped raise.

She was an excellent cook and homemaker. Her homemade tortillas, meatloaf, carne with gravy, enchiladas, chili relleno and so much more were absolutely delicious and legendary in and outside the family circle. Yolanda’s cooking brought the family together and held them at the table. Good conversation and strengthening bonds of love were a result, which clearly was an ingredient of Yolanda’s family recipe.

Yolanda was committed to sharing her Catholic faith with her children and grandchildren. She was firm in holding her loved ones accountable for there actions while teaching them right from wrong, never sugar-coating the difference. Her love for her family was steadfast and unconditional. She a very supportive mother and wife. She was always willing to listen and offer sound advice whether it was being asked for or not. Her family will cherish her memory as an amazing, beautiful, spiritual leader, best friend, and confidant. She was loving, caring and wise.

Yolanda Almaguer is survived by her adoring family, husband, Javier Almaguer of Gonzales, daughters, Katherine Perez of Gonzales, Kristine Taylor “Joshua” of Baytown, son, Isaac Almaguer and his girlfriend, Jessica Dudak of Bryan, sisters, Linda Cervantes “Raul” of Bon Agua, TN, Ofelia Herrera of Willis, brothers, Tony Herrera of Gonzales, Fabian Herrera “Imelda” of Gonzales, Ramiro Herrera of Seguin, Vincente Herrera, Jr of Santa Monica, CA, Arthur Herrera of Seguin, grandchildren, Zebella Gaspar, Zavier Taylor, Zaiden Taylor and Sebastian Gaspar. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Vera Herrera and brother, Enrique Herrera.

The family will receive friends from 5 pm to 7 pm Tuesday in Seydler-Hill Funeral Home. A Holy Rosary will be recited at 7 pm Tuesday, December 21, 2021 following the visitation. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2 pm Wednesday in St. James Catholic Church with Fr. Jason Martini officiating. Pallbearers: Joshua Taylor, Isaac Almaguer, Arthur Herrera, Ramiro Herrera, Noah Sirilo, and David Almaguer. Memorials may be made to St. James Catholic Church.
