CHCSCT ‘Giving Tree’ event brightens holidays

Community Health Centers of South Central Texas hosted the “Giving Tree” room in their building and filled it with 20 trees to give away for the season.

The trees were lined up at CHCSCT administrative offices, waiting to be placed in a loving home for the Christmas Holidays!

“For most, caught in tough economic circumstances, this is the only way that some families can have a tree,” said Debbie Marshall who created the project.

In collaboration with Gonzales Independent School District, the Communications Department engaged high school student groups to come in and decorate the donated trees. The trees will be given to student families, along with a $50 gift card to H-E-B for a yummy Christmas meal.

Student groups were provided with Walmart gift cards to shop for their creative side of Christmas decorating. Each group chose their theme. Students enjoyed refreshments while decorating their trees. Groups included Growing Greatness 18+ Program, Apache Flames, Apache Athletics, Art Department, Cosmetology, JROTC and FFA.

Sponsors included Community Health Centers of South Central Texas; Baker Boys BBQ; Victoria College School of Nursing; Storey Jewelers; Lux Texas Realty Olivia Seifert; Farmers Bureau Insurance, Brittany Caka; Rusty Rooster; Gonzales Memorial Hospital, Gonzales Healthcare Systems; Salon Envy; Come & Crepe It; WIC; Mayor Steve & Linda Kay Sucher; JL Construction, Heather Dement; Joyce Brubaker; and Sandra Michna.
