Council ups pool, park rental deposits

GONZALES — Gonzales City Council met on Tuesday, December 6 and opened the meeting with the swearing in of two new police officers. Mayor Connie Kacir swore in Mark A. Hastings and Donald J. Cartwright, before council and a gallery filled with family, friends and fellow officers.

Under resolutions the council discussed and consider, they voted unanimously to approve seven different items, including: establishing a policy for advertising Board and Commission openings; authorizing the funding for School Zone signs to NSTS, LLC, in the amount of $4,375.66, out of the Restricted Use Municipal Court Child Safety Fund; authorizing the city manager to ratify a contract with LNV, Inc., in the amount of $41,400, for water treatment services; establishing the formation guidelines for the Museum Advisory Board and authorizing staff to advertise for board appointments; amending the city pool's rental fees, from a $25 deposit to a $50 deposit; amending city park rental fees, from a $25 deposit to a $100 deposit; and, approving the city's 2017 Holiday Calendar.

Gonzales City council typically meets the first Tuesday of each month, but will be having some special meetings this month, to handle the hiring of a new city manager.
