Daniel Joseph Pekar, Jr., 59 joined our Heavenly Father on January 30, 2024.  He was born in Gonzales, Texas to Daniel and Dolores Pekar.

Daniel was a man who was “all about” family.  He loved spending time with his 4 sons, his grandson, his 5 sisters and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.  Daniel was an avid hunter, fisherman, outdoorsman.   Daniel absolutely loved listening and dancing to polka music.  He joked around with everyone and was always full of fun and laughter.  As a young man, Daniel worked for Fehner & Son Grain Co. in Gonzales and after moving to San Marcos worked for several different trucking companies.

We will never understand the reason God called him home, but He has gained a loyal, devoted servant.

Daniel is survived by his wife, Janie Pekar, sons Colton Gray Staton, Dalyn Payne Pekar, Weston Tanner Pekar, Luis Adrian Martinez, grandson Colton Jay Staton, his sisters Betty Jo Contreras (Rando), Susan Gail Garcia (Jesse), and Beverly Bond (Joe) and Jeanette Pekar.  He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.  He is preceded in death by his first wife Judith Annette Pekar, parents Daniel and Dolores Pekar, and sister Kathleen Marie Balderas.

Family will receive friends from 5:00pm-8:00pm Monday, February 5, 2024 with recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7:00pm at Pennington Funer Home, 323 N. Comanche St., San Marcos, Texas.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, February 6th, 10:00am at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, 310 Lockhart St., Martindale, Texas.
