Edward “Eddie” Dean Richter, age 55, passed away on Friday, April 21 at his home in Flatonia, TX.

Eddie is survived by his wife, Belinda Richter, step daughters April (Richter) Shelnutt, her husband Jason, and their two daughters Alison and Jemma of Seguin, and Ashley (Richter) Lamon, her husband Joey, and their three daughters, Victoria, Katelynn, and Rebecca of Castroville as well as mother-in-law Juanita Nikel of Flatonia. He also is survived by his brothers Richard Richter of Spring, TX, wife Connie and his sons Carl, Chasten, and Richard Jr., Martin, Jacob, Christian, and daughters Constance and Catherine, sister Norma Sedlar of Flatonia, her sons Danny and wife Katy of Flatonia and Matthew and wife Beth of Victoria, TX and their families, Darren Richter of Gonzales and daughter Brittany and son Collin; niece Jennifer (Jalufka) Sampelton, husband Walter and children Tyler, Madison, Walter Jr., and Lindsey, nephew Mark Jalufka, wife Bobbie Sue, and son Easton along with many dear friends and extended family.

Eddie was preceded in death by his parents Carl Leroy Richter and Addie Jean (Edwards) Richter, Brother Carl Richter, Sister Mable (Richter) Jalufka and grandparents.

Eddie was an avid fisherman, loving husband, step-father, and grandfather. He always knew how to have a good time. He was loyal to his family and friends and had their best interests at heart. His second home was on the river or ocean and loved to take friends and family fishing with him. Eddie was full of life lessons and advice. His deep conversations, understanding, and advice will truly be missed.

Visitation will begin at 8 a.m. Thursday, April 27 at Smith Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be held 10 a.m. Friday, April 28 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church officiated by Father Eddie Winkler. Burial will follow in the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery.
