A Gonzales County Sheriff’s Office sergeant made a traffic stop which caught a driver with an outstanding felony warrant from Guadalupe County.

At 9:45 a.m. Friday, Oct. 27, the sergeant was working overtime through the Operation BorderStar grant given to GCSO by the state of Texas. The sergeant conducted a traffic stop on a passenger vehicle on Interstate 10 for an expired registration.

During the stop, the sergeant learned the male driver had a felony warrant for manufacturing and delivering a controlled substance. That individual was taken into custody without incident. A further search of the vehicle located approximately an ounce plastic baggie of marijuana, which also belonged to the suspect, netting him a possession of marijuana charge as well.

“This is twice this week the Border Star grant has allowed our deputies the opportunity to work extra and take two different felons off the streets,” GCSO said in a press release. “This is all towards our mission of trying to make the Gonzales County community a better and safer place to live for all of our residents.”
