GISD discusses community bond update meeting

The Gonzales ISD School board met for their regularly scheduled meeting Monday, Feb. 12 at the GISD Administration Building.

One of the items that was mentioned near the end of the meeting is the upcoming Community Bond Update meeting regarding the CTE Building, which is set for Monday, Feb. 19.

“We will have an open community meeting so that we can inform the community where the monies that we have spent thus far regarding the bond are going and what our plans are and just let them have a look at all the bond paperwork that has been completed thus far,”  GISD Superintendent Dr. Elmer Avellaneda said.

The purpose of the meeting is for the community to ask questions about where “every single dollar” that was approved is going, Avellaneda added.

GISD approved the following agenda items:

--approved the order and notice of election for GISD School Board for Districts 4 and 7.

--approved not adopting a policy that would authorize a chaplain to be employed and/or be allowed to volunteer to perform the duties of school counselor at this time.

--approved the purchase the E-Rate Category One and Category Two propose bid and budget amendments

--approved the interlocal agreement with Education Service Center Region 20, Texas 20 Cooperative

--approved 2024-2025 GISD School Calendar
