Gonzales City Council meets Tuesday night to authorize Splash Pad, other GEDC expenditures

GONZALES — Gonzales City Council meet Tuesday night to approve a $125,000 expenditure by Gonzales Economic Development Corporation toward the funding of the Gonzales Noon Lions Splash Pad; a loan/grant application in the amount of $8,542 for the purchase of a Kubota tractor, for use at J.B. Wells Park; and a Small Business Incentive Grant application in the amount of $7,213 for the purchase of two zero-radius mowers for Independence Golf Course and RV Camping sites.

Under resolutions council will discuss and consider: City Manager Sean Lally entering into a five-year engineering study agreement with LCRA; supporting repairs to the Lake Wood Dam; elimination of trash dumpsters at the city's Public Works; expenditures by GEDC, toward the splash pad, tractor and mowers; tax resale property at 808 Linert Street; appointing Gonzales County Tax Assessor/Collector Crystal Cedillo to calculate and prepare the city's effective and rollback tax rates; closure of streets for helicopter rides at the annual Come And Take It celebration; and authorizing Lally to execute an agreement with Bio-West Inc. for the Gonzales Hydroelectric Dam relicensing project, environmental surveys and water quality monitoring.

Under board and staff reports, council will hear an update on city finances.

The meeting is expected to open and enter into executive session for the purpose of deliberation on: contemplated litigation with Austin Presbyterian Seminary; St. George Street property; as well as Public Power Utilities, and Competitive Matters.

Gonzales City Council typically meets for regularly-scheduled meeting at 6 p.m. on the first Tuesday of the month. This meeting was rescheduled for the Independence Day holiday and will be 5 p.m. tonight, Tuesday, July 11, at Gonzales Municipal Building, 820 St. Joseph Street.
