Gonzales Main Street to hold Winterfest window decorating contest

Gonzales Main Street will hold a Winterfest window decorating contest for all businesses and/or private windows within the Gonzales Main Street district.

Entry applications are available at the Main Street & Economic Development Office at 305 Saint Lawrence St. and must be received no later than 5 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 29, to be judged for the contest. Interested participants should have windows, areas or storefronts decorated and lit before Friday, Dec. 1.

Contest is for decorated areas that are visible to the public (either outside or inside with approval). Displays must be family friendly and can be creative, festive and fun. Judging criteria includes presentation, workmanship, originality and use of lights.

A panel of judges will visit the storefronts the evening of Friday, Dec. 1. Businesses are asked to leave their lights on between 6 p.m. and 10 p.m. First, second and third place winners will receive a cash prize, a trophy and recognition in the Gonzales Inquirer, as well as on various social media sites. Consideration will be awarded to anyone who can incorporate in this year’s theme, “An Old Fashioned Christmas.”
