Gonzales man drives through Okla. hotel

ALVA, Okla. — A Gonzales man was arrested last week after police said he crashed his pickup into the front desk of a northwestern Oklahoma hotel and nearly ran over two women.

Oklahoma City news media reported the incident happened on Dec. 10 at Alva Comfort Inn and Suites after a bill dispute. Police said John Parsley, 62, of Gonzales, wanted a refund on two transactions.

Parsley was reportedly furious that his credit card was declined twice at the hotel, causing workers to ask him to pay in cash.

Officer Wade Suffon said he offered to talk to a manager but Parsley drove off and crashed into the hotel.

Surveillance video showed the truck back up after the initial hit and slam into the lobby a second time.

Parsley faces two felony counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and one count of malicious injury to property over $1,000. Parsley owns the Full Circle thrift store in downtown Gonzales.

Rupal Christian, who runs the hotel with her husband, said she voided the bill that he disputed, but that wasn’t enough for Parsley.

“He said ‘I’m going to call the cops and I’m going to run you over,’” Christian told an Oklahoma City TV station.

She said the truck missed her by mere inches.

“I don’t know how I jumped that,” Christian said. “It’s just God’s hand. It’s just the Angel of the Lord protected me.”

Parsley was taken to Woods County Jail, where he reportedly told authorities that the clerks “thought he was bluffing and he proved he wasn’t.” He is being held in lieu of a $1 million bond.
