Gonzales man gets 10 years for solicitation of minor

A Gonzales man was sentenced to 10 years in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice — Institutional Division by senior judge Dwight E. Peschel in the 25th Judicial District Court on Nov. 3 after pleading guilty on Nov. 3 to online solicitation of a minor under age 14.

Calvin Rhoades will turn himself in on Jan. 3, 2024, under the terms of his plea agreement and will have 72 days credit for his sentence when he does. He also was sentenced on a separate charge of possession of a controlled substance to 270 days in a state jail facility with 22 days credit and that sentence will run concurrently.

Other sentences handed down by Peschel include:

• Gregory Hall was sentenced to five years in TDCJ-ID with 370 days credit on a charge of continuous family violence after a motion to revoke probation was granted.

• Isabel Hernandez was sentenced to three years deferred adjudication plus a $1,000 fine, attorney fees and court costs after pleading guilty to theft of property.

• Sonia Hernandez was sentenced to five years in TDCJ-ID with 518 days credit for bringing a prohibited substance into a correctional facility.

• Otis Jarmon was sentenced to 583 days in a state jail facility with 583 days credit on a charge of indecency with a child after pleading guilty.
